Robert Davi’s traditional holiday single- MISTLETOE & HOLLY really took me back to the big band sounds of the kind of music Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers once kicked up their dancing shoes too! It’s swinging, fun and upbeat. Davi’s voice is great as he covers this Sinatra classic signature tune recorded by ole blue eyes in 1957 !!! How could you not love lyrics like “Oh by gosh…by golly!” I think the whimsical lyrics are really true American traditional memory triggers like trimming the tree, overeating, relatives and who can’t remember the smell of “grandma’s pies” – 100% of the proceeds go towards the SALVATION ARMY! Robert Davi an American/Italian Entertainer pays tribute to the legendary Frank Sinatra- The Great American Songbook and America with a new album climbing the Billboard charts in the top 10 Traditional Jazz category.

Known- for his hard, tough side in many villainous roles, starring in such films as Die Hard, James Bond License to Kill, The Goonies and Showgirls to name a few.

Unknown- to most, is this amazing singer with the softer side we now see. Robert Davi pays homage to Frank Sinatra who hand-picked Davi as a young up and coming actor to share the screen in his first starring role…”Contract on Cherry Street” which was nominated for Best TV Feature/Miniseries at the 1978 Edgar Awards and thus Davi’s Film career was born.

The album is beautiful and romantic with the rich colorful tones and smooth singing style of Robert Davi. Such Sinatra favorite hits from the Great American Songbook as “World on a String” “Day In Day Out” “Witchcraft” to name a few sure should please the listener of any age! One of my very favorites, that seems to tug a little more at my heartstrings upon each listening was surprising enough “Summer Wind” the free flowing “shuffle like” ballad, when I usually prefer the up-beat songs.

Being a Music Family Member in Seattle, Nashville, Chi-Town and visiting Los Angeles frequently, has really helped me spread my “social butterfly” wings and fly as a creative writer, I found a hidden passion of mine where I could actually help promote my friends! I have been keeping an on-going journal for almost 25 years and have always loved being an entertainer as well as supporting friends in their art, My journey began with a great NW band in Tacoma called the FABULOUS WAILERS…who incedently were the first NorthWest band to record LOUIE LOUIE! (check their site for the story!) Buck Ormsby had givin’ me one of their cd’s to iisten to in 2006, it had been released in 2002 however, as a friend, he said… “here listen to this…and tell me what you think”, I did and LOVED IT, We were talking on the phone and I was pouring out my feelings on the individual tracks- Buck said…. “KK why don’t you just write us a review?” I thought…”I CAN DO THAT!” and folks- as they say…. “the rest is History!

Billy s vocals and the tight harmonies are so incredible you almost feel as if you are listening to an actual YES cd and the syncopated rhythm is a real treat for the listener, the lyrics and the mood of the music seem to ask the listener questions that are thoughtful and tempt you into reaching inside of your own soul for answers that only you can answer about your own life.As you are listening to the cd you can t help thinking who are all of these great players, you check the liner notes to find that this is really a true solo project, Billy is playing all of the instruments, everything has that Sherwood vibe stamped on it, the phrasing of the lyrics and the music, carry the listener through from the beginning to the end and you can follow along with the words which is always a bonus!The title track AT THE SPEED OF LIFE has qualities of universal instrumentation, I heard a little world beat flavor perhaps that of Eastern Indian reminiscent of Led Zeppelin s Kashmir I also heard a little Chinese perhaps mixed with what sounded like even a tinge of a banjo? and if you listen closely you can almost hear the high pitched sounds that of a whale & representing the equality of how all living things really do travel AT THE SPEED OF LIFE.SEEING THROUGH THE WALLS I found the music to be very dreamy giving the listener breathing room to reflect on their own life as you really are seeing through your own walls of silence.IN MEMORY OF & is the only instrumental track which has an almost comforting feel intertwining both somber and optimistic moments of the actual feelings one battles with when losing a loved one. BABY GRAMPS PERFORMANCE ON DAVID LETTERMAN AUG. 28th 2007

I just got word from a very reliable source that tonight BABY GRAMPS will be performing on THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN! If You have seen the Johnny Depp latest Blockbuster PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN you may have heard the distinct stylings of Baby Gramps. Baby Gramps has his own distinctive style that really grabs your attention, I first was introduced to this very unique throat buzzing, “Popeye” sounding singing story-telling, guitar “scribbling” kid friendly performer last Saturday at Louie Fest in Tacoma Washington. I was enthralled by what my video recorder was capturing. Little and big kids of all ages gathered round Baby Gramps as they laughed and sang along with this highly hypnotic performer! Baby Gramps is a steel guitar playing singer-songwriter from Seattle who landed a song like a big fish on one of the most popular movie soundtracks perfect for his personality! Pirates of the Caribbean film! Some of the other “Big Fish” who also landed songs in the movie include Sting, Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams and Bono. So tune in to The Late show with David Letterman tonight at 11:30 P.M. on CBS and you too can catch the Baby Gramps buzz!
